Honouring Visionaries and their Outstanding Contributions to Canadian Agriculture

THE CANADIAN AGRICULTURAL HALL OF FAME

About the
Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame

The Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame has a rich history which began in 1960. Its aim is to recognize individuals who have made remarkable contributions to Canadian agriculture. Administered by a Board of 12 volunteer directors, the Association is a not-for-profit organization.

The Gallery showcasing the portraits of inductees is located at the Royal Agricultural Winter Fair in Toronto, where visitors can learn about and appreciate the excellence of these men and women who have influenced the agricultural sector. A renovation in 2016 brought a fresh look to the Gallery.

The annual induction ceremony includes a gala dinner and portrait unveiling to honour the selected inductees.

Applications are accepted and reviewed annually with nominees judged and rated based on their contributions to Canadian agriculture. The final selection is made by the Board of Directors. The Canadian Agricultural Hall of Fame preserves the history and achievements of the agriculture and food industry, inspiring future generations to continue the legacy of excellence in Canadian agriculture.

Board Nomination Process

The Canadian Agriculture Hall of Fame is guided by a 12-person, volunteer Board of Directors.  We are always open to welcoming new Directors when positions are open/available on the Board.  A Nominating Committee of the Board guides the recruitment of potential Directors with a slate being approved by the entire Board. Typically, new Board members would be presented for consideration and acceptance by the general membership at the Annual General Meeting held each fall.

Those interested in serving on the Board of Directors should complete an “Expression of Interest” form that outlines their background, skill set and interest in serving on the Board.  All board members serve two-year terms, which can be renewed up to a maximum of 12 years. As a not-for-profit organization, there is no monetary compensation provided to Board Directors.
